FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE NEW MOON LACTATION CONSULTING?

Amanda knows the challenges of being a parent of newborn. It is hard! She listens attentively and will do everything she can to help, support, and encourage without any judgement. Working with Amanda at New Moon Lactation will get you on the path to feeding your baby and supporting you in a way that works for your family.

DOES INSURANCE COVER A LACTATION APPOINTMENT OR POSTPARTUM SUPPORT?

Currently, New Moon Lactation Consulting does not work with any insurance company's and requires full payment at the time of service. That can be done with cash or a debit, credit, or HSA card. Many insurance plans will cover lactation services, so you will be given a Superbill that you can turn in for possible reimbursement through your insurance plan.

WHY SHOULD I HIRE AN IBCLC?

You don't need to struggle with breastfeeding on your own! An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant is the premiere expert in breastfeeding. When new parents are having challenges with feeding baby, they deserve to work with the very best and know that they are doing everything possible to meet their breastfeeding goals. An IBCLC can help achieve that.

WHY SHOULD I HIRE A POSTPARTUM AND INFANT CARE DOULA?

We need a village! Every person with a new baby deserves additional help and support. Many of us don't live near families or have a lot of support. A postpartum doula is that support. We help take care of mom, baby, other children, and help make your home more peaceful.

HOW DO I GET READY FOR A HOME VISIT?

Do not do the dishes. Do not get dressed. Do not brush your hair. Try not to feed baby right before visit as Amanda will want to watch mom and baby feed. That's it. Amanda is visiting you in your home and all she cares about is helping and supporting mom and baby.

WHAT IS YOUR SERVICE AREA? HOW FAR DO YOU TRAVEL FOR HOME VISITS?

New Moon Lactation's service area includes Sonoma, Napa, and Marin Counties. Amanda will travel outside the service area for an additional fee, which is dependent on distance. Virtual visits are available anywhere.

WHAT SHOULD I KNOW ABOUT MY PRIVACY RIGHTS?
